Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies

(One of my cousins sent me this recipe, which is different than the one that's on the Nieman Marcus site. Not sure what's what, but this recipe is really yummy with oatmeal and lots of chocolate. Also, I split the dough and only added nuts to half.)

2 cups butter
1 tsp. salt
4 cups flour
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
2 tsp soda
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
5 cups blended oatmeal
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)
24 oz. chocolate chips
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups brown sugar

Measure oatmeal and blend in a blender or food processor to a fine powder.

Cream the butter and both sugars.

Add eggs and vanilla. Mix.

Add flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. mix altogether.

Add chocolate chips, Hershey bar, and nuts.

Roll into balls and place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. (Note to myself: Our oven seems to run a little on the hot side, so 9 minutes at 360 degrees worked better.)

If there is a better chocolate chip cookie recipe, I haven't come accross it (and I'm more than a little obsessed with a good chocolate chip cookie). I made a batch of these this morning for my daughter to share with her class on the last day of school. None for me, though. The lifestyle plan doesn't allow it.

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts.

Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.

Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
